Ph.D., Chief Rotor Engineer, Gulf Wind Technology

Dr. Fisher is the Chief Rotor Engineer for Gulf Wind Technology, where he helps to shape the next generation of offshore wind blades. Throughout his decades long career in the industry, he has held a variety of technical and leadership roles at GE Renewable Energy, LM Wind Power, and DNV. Murray is a Mechanical Engineer by training, obtaining his B.S.M.E from the University of Florida in 2005. He joined GE Energy as an Edison Engineer in a rotational engineering development program, during which time he completed his M.S.M.E from Georgia Tech. In 2012, he completed a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering at Clemson University, focusing on fluid dynamics, vibration, and scour. In 2015, he returned to GE Renewable Energy as a Senior Engineer, leading various design and technology programs before taking the role of Conceptual Design Engineer and Front-End Leader for the Americas with LM Wind Power. Murray has led the development of several blade aerodynamic and conceptual structural designs for major turbine manufacturers globally. He led the aerodynamic design of the GE 62.2 m blade from conceptual design through to serial production, which was the most installed blade in the US in 2020. In 2020, he was promoted to lead a global engineering team, developing advanced methods for blade metrology and non-destructive testing. Prior to joining Gulf Wind Technology, he was a Senior Engineer at DNV were provided technical and due diligence support on over 6.5 GW of operating wind assets. He has led teams, influenced corporate strategy, developed new products, advised clients on operating wind assets, and generated numerous patents and publications, all in the pursuit of growing the wind industry.
